John Seed: About
I started out as a painter, but after teaching art history for 24 years I seem to do a better job explaining art than making it. Because the word "critic" makes me nervous I simply think of myself as someone who writes about art and artists. When it comes to art, I keep in mind that context is everything. Art is a human product and I try not to forget that.
I don't have a favorite period or style of art: I like it all.
A few personal details: I am a dad, a cancer survivor and an unshakeable optimist. The writings on this site include my essays about art and artists as well as some personal recollections.
I have written for:
Stanford, The Huffington Post, ebsq artists, Harvard Magazine, Honolulu, Wadsworth/Cenage, Christie's Hong Kong, Smith-Andersen Editions, The Riverside Press Enterprise, Geringer Art LLC, and Open Museum.org
