An excerpt from my catalog essay for Andy Denzler, whose solo exhibition "Out of the Dark" opens at Opera Gallery, Paris on March 25th:
"Denzler’s secular art examines the situations of contemporary human beings through imagery shaped by photography and media imagery. His paintings feel exactly right for an era in which human beings find their own memories mixed with scenes from movies, television and web-based videos as the painting process generates marks that are often analogous to the many glitches and flickers that appear on screens."
